Went to see Charlton play Hull City yesterday, what a waste of an afternoon, they were awful, kept losing the ball, lacked drive and only had a good go at it once they were 1-0 down, absolutely shocking, sod promotion we will struggle to get into the play offs playing like this. The Ref had an absolute shocker, Bates was his name, obviously a master at officiating! Danny Mills does like to get amongst the opposition, and was red carded in the second half, for foul and abusive language, had the ref bothered to dish out the correct punishments for a tackle from behind and a blatant kick at him then maybe things would have been different, these two offences i was led to believe were red cards, but no not Master Bates, he dished out yellow cards, then Mills was fouled and the next thing we saw was Mills getting the red card, Hull had set out too wind him up, it was blatantly obvious, he should not have used foul and abusive language, but if the myopic twat had done his job properly this would not have happened. It does not alter the fact that Charlton were crap and some new faces will be needed in January if we are to move on, although what positions is anyones guess, we were crap all over the park....

Have taken to watching Nigella Lawson on UK Food lately, now she seems to be my perfect woman.... she cooks, licks food of her fingers and man alive what a figure.........

Young Finch (on the left in the pic) has had his X Ray results and it appears he has not broken his foot so cannot be called Rooney anymore, but I am told that he has damaged ligaments! so he now answers to John Terry. As a result Xmas has arrived and I am now off til early Jan, these injuries do have fringe benefits for muggings, the only downside is that junior Finch will be at home as well. We will see the Dr tomorrow to find out what we have to do to get our budding test cricketer back in action, he was due to be having some coaching sessions for a week in the new year but I suspect that will be off now, shame I was looking forward to the peace and quiet.

The Finch kitchen will resembling a sweet factory this weekend, as Dan and I are going to be making sweets for xmas, coconut ice, turkish delight and peppermint creams amongst others being planned, expect icing sugar to be everywhere.

Just seen Fabio Cappello on Sky, apparently he does not speak english very well, methinks the man is pulling a fast one, as the questions were being asked he was reacting to the english qustions then answering only after the translator had done his work, his reactions gave a lot away he fully understood the english questions, I suspect that overpaid bunch of show ponies are in for a tough time from Mr Cappello, the man has no fear of big ego's and rules with a rod of iron, I think he will be good for our game and if I was one of those show ponies I would be worried.

Watched Charlton at the weekend on Sky as they lost 4-2 to WBA, we desperateley need to sign a few new defenders, and its sad to say but I think Chris Powell has gone over that hill just a bit too far and should be shuffled off to the reserves, its a shame as he is a smashing fella and was a good player in his day, but sadly that day has gone. Luke Varney looks good, loves to try things and with Iwelumo out I suspect he will get a good run in the side, I am looking forward to seeing Chris Dickson play, he is on loan at Gillingham and banging the goals in, hopefully we will see him in action at the Valley soon.

The young Finch has been in the wars, last week he tripped over in the living room, I understand he was chasing a ball, so there was little sympathy forthcoming! it has got better but the poor little blighter is still limping, so last night he was dragged to the Dr's, poor woman had to handle Dan's feet!! not for the faint hearted I can tell you. Well she suspects he has broken his 4th Metatarsal on his right foot, we have had the x ray this morning and await the results next week, in the meantime the poor lad is answering to the name Rooney and is as I speak watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, on our new JBL Surround sound system (an xmas pressie from Julz) by god its loud, the room next door is shaking, the sub woofer is huge.

Last weekend in Wales with New Romney Mountain Rescue was great fun, a good time was had by all, the weather was shocking, it rained constantly but did not stop the lads walking to the waterfalls, and climbing, the climbing was at in indoor centre at Llangorse, a good place to visit in the wet. I was Chef for the weekend, so we enjoyed a lasagne and on Saturday evening a full Christmas dinner. As usual the alcohol flowed throughout and the Karaoke was good and our new game IPod trumps wetn down a storm in the wee small hours of Sunday morning.
We are planning another trip ther in the summer and will be taking wives, girlfriends and ankle biters.... god help us! The accomdation is superb and the hosts who own the farm were great, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Brecons here is the link http://www.bunkhouse-south-wales.co.uk/

Yours in recovery

ITS THE WEEKEND!!!

At last the long awaited New Romney Mountain Rescue weekend is upon us! I am not saying the Welsh are scared but the buggers have closed the Severn Bridge!!!
We will be joined this evening by Dr from Dr and the Medics, he was due last night but a gig has got in the way, so karaoke night in South Wales has been brought forward to this evening.
The whole team has assembled including our member from France who flew in last night and is making unreasonable catering demands......

The only concern I have about the weekend is that we are meeting in the local pub, which kind of sets the tone for the whole weekend!

So if you live in the Brecon Beacons I would suggest giving Ystradfellte a wide birth til Sunday evening.

Am also very annoyed, I lent a mate a canoe 5 years ago and he still has not returned it.........

What a rotten week, my back is still sore and now my knee is a mess, I am having trouble with stairs, walking and even sitting down is difficult, now two things worry me about this, firstly Cricket practice starts in Jan, the way the knee and back are I doubt very much if I will be there, but more immediate is next weekend in Wales, it looks like any hopes of me walking in the hills may be slim, so i will be forced to stay behind and drink.,.....

Charlton seem to be doing their best to not get promoted, 2 home games this week and two 3-1 defeats, they were not very good Tuesday night, and I am told that yesterday they were equally as bad, poor Dan has been to both games, strting to think he may be a jinx.
